AVxceleration (AVX)
AVxceleration (AVX) is a real-time simulator that computes the physics of machine vision sensors (optical, radar, lidar and thermal). Combined with a vehicle dynamics simulator (Carla or CarMaker), Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) can be simulated to take advantage of digital twins. This allows for faster and cheaper development time than constructing physical prototypes, as well as the ability to test extreme operating conditions (precipitation, temperatures, etc.).
The simulation team has digital twins of the Area X.O site and its physical assets. This includes human-size test mannequins, with actively controlled heat signatures, as well as Lexus autonomous technologies and smart intersection sensors.
AVX Pedestrian
This video demonstrates the testing capabilities at Area X.O with the autonomous Lexus driving in testing Zone 1. The vehicle stops at the smart intersection, where it waits for a mannequin and other traffic before it continues its trajectory. The radar and lidar data collected from sensors onboard the Lexus for the trajectory are also visualized.
STK
Systems Tool Kit (STK) is a digital mission engineering (DME) software that enables engineers and scientists to create scenarios based on ground, air, sea, and space assets. The best use of STK is in DME scenario development for drone/UAV/RPAS and satellite applications including 5G and advanced communications.
The Area X.O simulation team has digital twins of the Area X.O site and its assets. These assets include human-size test mannequins with the appropriate heat signatures, autonomous vehicle technologies, the Area X.O Mobile Command Centre and the communication towers.
This video shows a scenario where the test mannequin is placed in the middle of an open field, imitating a lost person. The mobile command centre is deployed and sent a quadcopter drone in search of the mannequin. The drone scans two fields to find the mannequin, and once the mannequin is detected, the camera points to it. The blue pyramid coming out of the drone represents the field of view of the camera.
High-Frequency Structured Solver (HFSS)
ANSYS Electronics Desktop is a powerful simulation platform designed for the analysis and design of electromagnetic, RF, and electronic systems. It offers an integrated environment for various simulation tools, enabling engineers to perform tasks like circuit simulation, electromagnetic field analysis, and signal integrity analysis.
Ansys Fluent
Ansys Fluent is a computational fluid dynamics software that is a powerful tool for simulating and analyzing fluid flow and heat transfer phenomena. The software is used to simulate aerodynamic flow, heat transfer, hydrodynamics, and plasma dynamics. It is widely used in many industries such as:
• Aerospace
• Naval
• Manufacturing
• Construction
• Agriculture
• And more…
This video shows the aerodynamics of a drone flying at 20 m/s.
Ansys Mechanical and Thermal
Ansys Mechanical is a robust finite element analysis (FEA) software widely used in engineering and simulation applications, analyzing mechanical structures. It allows engineers and designers to analyze complex systems and components’ structural and mechanical behavior.
Ansys Thermal is a specialized software tailored for thermal analysis and simulations. Engineers and researchers employ it to study and predict how heat is transferred within complex systems and structures.
