Ottawa, Canada — November 26th, 2026 – Ottawa technology company TACTIQL is celebrating the successful showcasing of its intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) data-integration platform, FULCRUM, during NATO’s Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems (REPMUS) 2025 exercise – one of the Alliance’s premier global events for maritime robotics and unmanned systems.
Their performance in September marks a major milestone for the company, for Canada’s defence-tech innovation ecosystem, and for Ottawa’s growing role as a hub for next-generation dual-use technologies.
A standout performance on the global stage
REPMUS is a flagship NATO exercise involving multinational forces, unmanned systems, and advanced technologies deployed in real maritime scenarios. Partnered with Dynamic Messenger (DYMS), the exercise brings together innovators, researchers, operators, and military decision-makers.
During REPMUS 2025, TACTIQL’s FULCRUM platform automatically standardized data from multiple ISR sensors, enabling integration-free interoperability with command, control, and intelligence software – a critical need in environments where dozens of systems from multiple nations must work together.
TACTIQL’s system provided real-time, actionable information to decision-makers in a complex, multinational setting involving NATO Maritime Command, the Portuguese Navy, the NATO Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), and NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT).

A Canadian innovation success story within NATO DIANA
TACTIQL joined NATO DIANA in 2025 and advanced through its acceleration pathway at MassChallenge, later becoming a Phase 2 DIANA company. Out of more than 2,600 proposals submitted across NATO’s 32 member nations, TACTIQL is one of only 15 companies selected to move forward as part of Phase 2.
Their performance at REPMUS highlights how Canadian ventures can scale globally through DIANA’s innovation ecosystem – one of the world’s most significant platforms for defence and security technology validation.
This success reflects both TACTIQL’s technical capability and the strength of the broader Canadian innovation network supporting companies developing dual-use and defence technologies.
Advancing Canada’s defence-tech leadership
TACTIQL’s participation demonstrates the contribution Ottawa-based companies are making to global defence innovation. Their success carries implications beyond maritime operations:
- Operational impact: FULCRUM’s data standardization enhances shared situational awareness and coordination among allied forces.
- Sovereign capability: Canadian-built technology performed effectively in a NATO deployment environment – strengthening national innovation security.
- Economic and ecosystem benefit: Demonstrations like REPMUS raise Canada’s profile as a source of breakthrough defence technologies and attract talent, investment, and collaboration.
- Innovation alignment: The company’s trajectory aligns with the priorities of programs supporting Canadian firms innovating in AI, autonomy, communications, cyber, and advanced sensing.
Ottawa and Area X.O: An innovation ecosystem behind the momentum
TACTIQL’s success also reflects the strength of Canada’s Capital Region as an emerging hub for defence and dual-use innovation. Through programs such as Invest Ottawa’s Global Expansion initiatives, venture development services, and the testing and validation capabilities at Area X.O, companies like TACTIQL are developing and deploying technologies that compete on the global stage.
Area X.O’s integrated labs, outdoor test environments, and industry partnerships support innovators working in autonomy, AI, robotics, sensing, communications, and mobility – all critical domains for NATO’s future capability development.
Together, these ecosystem strengths help position Ottawa-based companies to demonstrate their technologies in real-world missions, from land and air to the maritime domain.
