With smart mobility being a driving force behind progress, Ottawa’s epic demonstration day GCXpo 2024 (formerly TCXpo), showcases cutting-edge technologies, fosters meaningful connections and acts as a unique catalyst for growth and innovation within the smart mobility sector.
In partnership with the Government of Canada and event sponsors, the pioneering Canadian smart mobility tech demo day event is back for 2024, taking place September 26, 2024, at Area X.O.
As Ottawa’s R&D complex for next-gen mobility, autonomy and connectivity, a NATO Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) Test Centre, and a Public Research Institution designated by ISED (under the ITB Policy), Area X.O is ideally suited to once again host the epic event.
Following up on the impact of TCXpo

Get ready for GCXpo 2024
Hosted at Area X.O, the all-weather R&D complex for next-generation smart mobility, autonomy, and connectivity technologies, GCXpo will bring together the best and brightest minds in the Canadian tech ecosystem in 2024.
With a focus on interactive demonstrations, high-profile announcements, and collaborative networking opportunities, GCXpo is prepared to showcase the cutting edge of smart mobility innovation. Attendees can expect to experience firsthand dozens of interactive demonstrations, from connected and autonomous vehicles to drones, advanced robots, and smart city solutions.
As Philippe Hébert, Director General, R&D Innovation, Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) said in his address to attendees at last year’s event, the demonstration day event “is an example of when rubber hits the road, when you really see the systems and the ideas people have being demonstrated to a big crowd and a number of stakeholders.”
GCXpo 2024 will carry on the legacy created by the past two years and will:
- Feature live technology demonstrations and create an impactful and engaging experience for all participants, including federal employees, leaders and partners from many portfolios.
- Showcase Canadian innovations that address national priorities, opportunities, and challenges.
- Educate and inform all participants on how these solutions will address diverse sectors and global markets, deliver economic benefits, and improve our quality of life; and
- Allow innovators to engage with prospective customers, partners, talent, investors and stakeholders.
As we prepare for GCXpo 2024, hosted by Area X.O. in partnership with the Government of Canada and event sponsors, GCXpo promises to be an even more immersive and impactful experience.
This year’s event will evolve and emerge from the ground-breaking TCXpo first organized in 2022.
Having achieved remarkable success in its first two years, together with our founding government partners, GCXpo 2024 will broaden the scope by:
- Highlighting more emerging technologies
- Engaging more government partners
- Featuring a CAV Canada stage
- Welcome more international delegates from industry, academia, government and the investment community
- Create more immersive networking opportunities.
In the journey towards a smarter, more connected future, GCXpo will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and collaboration for our region and the country as a whole.
As we reflect on the success of TCXpo 2023 and look ahead to the epic showcase of GCXpo 2024, one thing is clear: the future of smart mobility is bright, and Canada is at the forefront of this transformative journey.
